Three days of celebration by the Andaman Sea

The Ritz-Carlton, Langkawi 18 to 21 December 2026
Begin

The Invitation

We're getting married, and there's no one we'd rather have there than you.

So we did something a little mad. We booked an entire resort on the edge of the Langkawi rainforest, right where the jungle spills into the Andaman Sea, and we're stealing our favourite people away for three whole days. Think warm air, bright colour, long dinners, and dancing that runs far too late. Here's the best part: the moment you land, everything's taken care of. Your room, your meals, every last detail. Nothing to plan, nothing to worry about. Just pack a bag, bring your best self, and let us spoil you rotten in paradise. We honestly can't wait.

All our love, Julia & Agam

A Welcome to Asia

Friday 18 December

Welcome to Asia. Land, check in, and meet us that evening at the Chinese restaurant for our welcome dinner. There's a feast waiting, because honestly, what's a trip to this side of the world without incredible Asian food. No agenda, no schedule, nowhere to be. Just cold drinks, good food, and everyone we love finally in one place. Tonight's the easy one. Soak it in, because tomorrow we turn it all the way up.

The Wedding

Saturday 19 December

This is the big one. A traditional North Indian wedding that takes over the whole day, and it is loud, colourful, and impossible not to get swept up in. It starts in a riot of marigold and music in the afternoon, builds into a procession with drums you'll feel in your chest, and lands at golden hour with the vows themselves, the sea glowing behind us as the sun drops into it. Then dinner, and a dance floor that doesn't quit.

  • Haldi & MehndiMarigolds, music, henna, and a whole lot of colour
  • The BaraatDrums, dancing, and a procession down to the sea
  • The CeremonyThe vows, just as the sun hits the water
  • Dinner & DancingGreat food, then the floor opens up and stays open

The Reception

Sunday 20 December

We start slow and end loud. The afternoon is all white linen and cold drinks by the pool, the kind of lazy, sun-soaked party where the only decision is another glass or a dip in the water. Then night falls and it's the grand finale, an elegant reception with Russian touches, glittering and glamorous, with the kind of food, drink, and dancing that keeps everyone out far too late. One last, unforgettable night under the stars, dancing until we can't dance any more.

The Venue

The Ritz-Carlton,
Langkawi

We've booked the entire resort, tucked into a rainforest that's been growing here for over a hundred million years, with the Andaman Sea right at its feet. It's wild, green, and wonderfully calm. You'll likely spot monkeys in the trees and along the paths, and the odd one near the rooms. They're friendly and they belong here, so no need to panic. Just enjoy them. This is a relaxed wedding in the middle of nature, and the whole idea is for everyone to slow down, breathe, and have a really good time together.

Getting to Langkawi

Travel & arrival

Langkawi is an easy hop from Kuala Lumpur or Singapore into Langkawi International Airport (LGK), and the resort is about 25 minutes from there. If you're flying long-haul from the US or elsewhere, give yourself a day or two in Kuala Lumpur or Singapore first to shake off the jetlag before heading to the island. If you're coming from India, the fastest route is the direct flight from Bangalore (BLR) on Fridays. However you get here, plan to arrive on the 18th so you don't miss the welcome dinner, and fly home on the 21st.

Dress Code

What to wear, event by event

Each day has its own feel, so here's a simple guide so you're never caught out. The short version: it'll be warm, you'll be dancing, and the goal is to look great while staying comfortable. When in doubt, dress festive and dress cool.

Day One · Fri 18 Dec

Welcome Dinner

Relaxed cocktail

A laid-back welcome dinner, no strict dress code. Just wear something you feel great in.

Women

A cocktail dress or something elegant and easy. Whatever makes you feel good.

Men

A smart shirt, or a blazer if you like. Keep it relaxed and comfortable.

Day Two · Sat 19 Dec · daytime

Haldi & Mehndi

North Indian festive, all in yellow

A sunny daytime celebration, with henna and a lot of fun. Everyone in yellow, please. Wear something you don't mind getting a little turmeric on, and keep it light and easy for dancing in the heat.

Women

Traditional North Indian wear in yellow. A light kurta, sharara, anarkali, or a breezy cotton lehenga works beautifully. Keep jewellery simple and shoes comfortable (juttis or sandals you can dance in).

Men

A cotton or linen kurta set in yellow, with churidar or pyjama. Light and breathable is the way to go. Comfortable juttis or mojaris to round it off.

Day Two · Sat 19 Dec · evening

The Ceremony

Traditional North Indian formal

This is the wedding itself, at sunset by the sea, so bring out your finest traditional North Indian wear. This is the night to go all in.

Women

A richly embellished lehenga or anarkali in jewel tones: emerald, deep red, fuchsia, royal blue, or gold. A heavily worked saree works too. Bring out the jewellery you save for the big occasions, and a draped dupatta is lovely.

Men

A sherwani or bandhgala in rich tones with traditional detailing, worn with a churidar. We'll provide a safa (turban) for you on the day, so there's nothing to bring or wear ahead. Traditional North Indian wear only for this one, please. Skip the western suit.

Day Three · Sun 20 Dec · daytime

Pool Party

All-white pool party, Greek-island style

A relaxed, all-white afternoon by the pool, think Mykonos. Crisp white only. Cream, ecru, and off-white don't count, we mean it.

Women

A white sundress, linen set, or flowing kaftan, with a sunhat. Wedges or sandals, you'll be by the pool all afternoon.

Men

A white linen shirt with trousers or smart white shorts. Loafers or espadrilles, and don't forget your sunglasses.

Day Three · Sun 20 Dec · evening

The Reception

Formal evening, Russian reception

This is the main reception, an elegant evening with Russian touches, so dress to impress. Russian receptions are polished and glamorous, so this is your moment to look your absolute best, right up there with the wedding day itself.

Women

A formal evening gown or elegant cocktail dress. Rich colours and jewel tones are perfect, polished and put-together is the look. Please leave white to the bride, and no black.

Men

A sharp suit or dinner jacket, polished shoes, the works. This is a formal, dressy evening, so bring your best.

Good to Know

A few useful notes
